ITU’s initiative will bring together over 100 cybersecurity experts, professionals and amateurs from Europe and CIS to jointly tackle simulated cybersecurity challenges

 

International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in cooperation with the State Enterprise 'Center of Special Telecommunications' under State Chancellery of the Republic of Moldova and the Regional Cooperation Council organizes at the kind invitation of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure of Moldova regional cybersecurity event “ITU Joint ALERT cyber drill for Europe and CIS Regions”. The event will take place on 21-23 November 2017 at the Tekwill, Studentilor 9/11 str., Chisinau, Moldova.

 

This initiative is a part of the ITU Regional Initiatives for Europe and for Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) on Building Confidence and security in the use of telecommunications/ICTs. It has a goal to enhance the communication and incident response capabilities of the participating governmental and national Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs) as well as to ensure their continued collective effort in mitigating cyber threats through conducting a series of joint cyber exercises.

 

The “ITU Joint Cyber Drill - ALERT for Europe and CIS Regions” is a three day event and is designed to be a platform for cooperation, information sharing, and discussion on current cybersecurity issues.

 

The 1st day (21 November) of the event is the conference. It includes presentations and panel discussions on current issues, latest assessment and current trends in cyber security threats. It is open for general attendance. The 2nd (22 November) and 3rd days (23 November) is the cyber drill for the invited CSIRTs. The cyber drill is structured around various scenarios, which consist of several incidents involving the most common types of cyber-attacks.

 

This year's conference will draw attendance from leading international experts from all over the world. Speakers representing industry, private sector, academy as well as local, regional and global CSIRT communities will present and discuss the latest topics on state of cybersecurity in the region, CIRTS implementation and operation experiences, cybersecurity prospects and challenges with a special focus on secure cyberspace via regional and interregional cooperation.

 

This initiative will bring together over 100 participants from most diverse spheres of cybersecurity, and is supported by Moldovan national as well as international partners, including: IBM, Bass Systems, E-Government Center, Orange Moldova, IT-Lab, Moldovan Association of Private ICT Companies, CyberServicies, Nuix, Silensec, Moldcell, Technical University of Moldova, Tekwill.
